*ShriRahul Gandhi’s speech in Turuvekere, Tumkur, Karnataka:*
Elections are going to be held in a few days. You (people) have to form your govt. Last time, you had not chosen the BJP government but BJP stole the govt. by giving money to MLAs, by damaging democracy.
For the last 3 years, you have seen that BJP has done only corruption in Karnataka. People of the state have given the name ‘40% Sarkara’ to the BJP govt. Whatever work it did, it stole 40% commission from Karnataka’s public.
It is govt.’s job to give people their money; it is govt.’s job to invest money in education, health, roads but the BJP govt. didn’t invest any money in these sectors but took out money from your pockets… from the pockets of farmers, labourers, small shopkeepers.
It is not that PM was not aware about the corruption in Karnataka; he knew everything. Contractors’ Association wrote letter to PM telling him about 40% commission. Dingaleshwar Swami ji said that 30% commission was taken from his mutt. There was scam in recruitment of Police Sub Inspectors, Assistant Professors, Asst. Engineers; there was Cooperative Bank scam in the state.
A BJP MLA told media that Karnataka CM’s post is sold for Rs. 2,500 cr in his party. So, these things are not hidden from PM. If every child of Karnataka knows about corruption here, then the country’s PM must be aware of this. So, my question to PM is – What did you do to stop corruption and 40 % commission in Karnataka in last 3 years? Why didn’t you take any action against the corrupt leaders?
Modi ji, if you come to Karnataka now to seek vote from the people of the state, do tell them what decisions did you take to stop this 40% commission when you came to know about it. Do tell the public what did you do when Karnataka didn’t get its due tax money, which was its right. Do tell- how did you help Karnataka when it suffered heavy losses due to floods.
Modi ji, you don’t talk about Karnataka’s issues when you come here to campaign for elections. You only talk about yourself. You should tell what did you do for Karnataka in the last 3 years. You should also tell what you are going to do in the next 5 years… what will you do for Karnataka’s youths, education, health, eradicating corruption.
Modi ji, these elections are not about you… these elections are about Karnataka’s people and its future. You say that Congress attacked you 91 times but you never speak about what you did for Karnataka. In your next speech, do tell the people of Karnataka what did you do in the last 3 years and what will you do in next 5 years.
We come here, give speeches, talk about our leaders… what did Siddaramaiah ji do, what does Shivakumar ji do… we take their names. You (PM) don’t even take names of your CM or Yediyurappa ji; your speeches are only about Narendra Modi ji.
Now, I want to tell about what Congress party is going to do for Karnataka… its youths, farmers, labourers. For the last 3 years, thousands of crores of rupees have been looted from you. So, we want to return your money back to you in the next 5 years. We want to put the money stolen by the BJP back in your pockets.
Women have been the biggest victims of BJP’s loot. Not only did it take 40% commission, it also raised prices. PM helped his friends and raised prices in the whole country. So, in our ‘Gruha Laskshmi’ scheme, each woman will be given Rs. 2,000 per month in her account. In ‘Sakhi’ scheme, women will get to travel free in public transport buses. In ‘Gruha Jyothi’ scheme, 200 units free electricity will be provided every month to each family. In ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme, 10 kg. rice will be given to every BPL family.
Demonetisation and GST resulted in huge unemployment in Karnataka. BJP privatised colleges and universities; youths don’t get employment… this is the reality of Karnataka. So, we are bringing ‘Yuva Nidhi’ scheme for youths. Modi ji & Karnataka CM gave you unemployment… we are going to give you ‘Yuva Nidhi’. Every graduate will get Rs. 3,000 for 2 years and every diploma holder will get Rs. 1,500 per month.
Modi ji, you criticise our 5 promises… please tell what you are going to do for Karnataka. This election is about Karnataka’s people… its youths, women. This election is not about one person, not about Narendra Modi ji and PM has to understand this.
BJP likes ‘40’ number very much… it made you remember this ‘40’ number in every contract, every work. This time, you make BJP remember ‘40’ number. Give them 40 seats in the Assembly and make Congress win with at least 150 seats. And this is important because they will try to buy the next govt. too with the 40% commission money that they stole from you. So, if you give 150 seats to Congress, BJP will not be able to steal the govt.
